Big Move - Red Cross House

27 March 2010, Saturday.

Woke up early in the morning to meet Eddie and dunno what is his name to go to the new Red Cross Home for the Disabled to assist them to move into their new home at 8 Lengkok Bahru. We agreed to meet at 9am but I was late. Manage to arrive at around 9.25am. And guess what the dunno what is his name is even later then me. Eddie was telling me that just as I am reaching he called him and he was still sleeping. ALAMAK! Lucky he is staying at Yew Tee area and could reach in half an hour time. Or else imagine how long we must wait for him?

While rotting with Eddie I suggested going to Long John Silver for breakfast. Am quite full as I had a mian qian kuek. But I cannot the temptation of thick toast. Ordered egg and cheese set.. so Yummy! I only manage to finish only half of it. The other half hehe... of course Eddie finish it up!
Finally when the dunno what his name reach. We took a cab there to save time. Late. Lucky we did not take bus there which we actually planned to. If so think we will probably take at least 30 minutes to reach there. Time to get working. Personally I think that there are too many volunteers crowding around. Around 8-10 people are waiting at the carpark lift lobby waiting for the arrival of bus carrying all the residents of the home. A lorry had fetched all the wheelchairs here and we are all waiting for SBS bus to bring our residents. When the three of us arrive we are suppose to split into our respective stations. But a bus is arriving thus we remain behind grabbing a wheelchair each and wait patiently. The dunno what his name and me were allocated to the kitchen upstairs to assist in the lunch preparation for the residents, staffs and volunteers.

Actually there is nothing much to do other than hanging around trying to act helpful. Seriously think that the number of volunteers is a little too much. As it is their first day using the new premise, they ordered packed food for all of the people. The kitchen is not fully set-up and it is too rush to prepare any food. Hehe so what am I doing in the kitchen? Setting up trays to carry the bowl and arranging all the bowls into the heater container to carry all the food into their room.

The nurses encourage us to feed the residents. There is so many to feed, so little staff. They randomly assign us to the resident. I was assigned to this uncle who actually can talk a little. As he keep looking around the room, I asked him "Are you looking for your friends? Are they here already?". He answered me "Uh Uh. Hai mei you lai." He took quite a while to finish the bowl of rice and half a cup of orange juice. YEAH my job is done. There are quite a number of volunteers crowding around this guy and they call him the STAR of the home. We are informed not to post photos of the residents due to privacy and confidentially but we can load photos of this STAR.

The dunno what his name is bought him out to take a breath
